Kruger National Park: Art and the Natural World
My time in Kruger National Park will focus on understanding the relationship between African artists and the natural environment that has inspired them for thousands of years. Experiencing the region's wildlife and landscapes firsthand will provide valuable context for the ancient rock paintings and animal imagery found throughout southern Africa. Safari excursions and visits to the dramatic Panorama Route will reveal the ecosystems that shaped indigenous belief systems, storytelling traditions, and artistic practices. By observing these environments directly, I hope to better appreciate how artists have used visual imagery to celebrate, document, and find meaning in the natural world.
